Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Mental Health America of Hendricks County. Our mission is to support the mental wellbeing of everyone, but we can’t do it alone! We need your help to raise awareness and fight in the open.

We currently offer in-person volunteer opportunities at our office in Avon, Indiana. These volunteer opportunities include building upkeep and administrative support, event support, including our 5K walk, annual comedy event and smaller community outreach events. Additionally, board and advisory committee positions are available. Please note due to OCVID-19, several remote, at home volunteer opportunities are available as well.

Internships

Internships

Mental Health America of Hendricks County offers a variety of selective internship opportunities.

At MHAHC, we take pride in considering our internships hands-on learning experiences. If you intern with us, you’ll get a wide range of experience as well as access to staff, board members and community partners who can help coach you and teach you practical skills to supplement your education. A general interest in mental health is, of course, a plus in any of our positions.

Our internship opportunities are flexible to work with you. All interns are expected to work at least 20 hours per week, and to be available for 8 weeks (preferably consecutive) during the internship period. However, interns who work closer to a full-time work schedule typically gain more from their experience. Opportunities are generally available year-round, but summer positions are the most popular and most competitive.

To apply: Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and resume to intern@mhahc.org. Please reference the internship title in the subject line of the e-mail. The best cover letters tell us why you want to work here. We receive a high volume of internship requests and may not be able to respond to each application unless you are contacted for an interview.
